Brief Synopsis
Feeling trapped in her grief after her brother’s death, Paloma Garcia is introduced to bachata dancing by Ms. Schmidt, an instructor at her community college in Eastern Colorado. When she fails the audition to join Danielle’s bachata team, she decides to form her own team, with José, Maria, Juan, Naomi, Chen, and Bob. Although Danielle, the school’s star performer, strives to make Paloma even more miserable, Paloma finds freedom and solace in learning to dance bachata. She reconciles with her father and begins to fall in love with José. Paloma risks certain humiliation to compete at Bachata-Fest Denver, where she is finally accepted by Colorado’s inspiring bachata community.
